― Background

Facebook users had a hard time understanding the platform privacy settings and it was creating privacy breaches on top of the ones caused by bugs and Facebook own fuck-ups, thus creating more outcry against the platform mishandling of people's privacy (yes, even before the 2016 election and everything that came after).

What we’ve accomplished:

1. Brief

After many years adding tons of features, the previous Facebook privacy basics website was cumbersome and incomprehensible for the average human being (ie. everyone outside of Facebook).

2. Insight

Facebook users would feel better if they knew their information and the thing they post were only visible to the people they want. It's not about how the privacy settings work, it's about knowing how to control who can see and access your personal information and content.

3. Idea

Control first, knowledge second. Instead of giving users pages of explanations by the truckload, our privacy basics platform sole focus would be to put back control into people's hand.

Taking users by the hand through a step by step process going through all the most important aspect of their personal profile on the platform.
